Can anyone give me some advice please - quickest way to make tutus?

I need to make 27 for a school thing.

I've already got several yards of white sheeting kicking about in my loft and school have provided loads and loads of white netting, but it's cheap and cheerful so not very thick. My plan was to just hem a strip of the white sheet as an underskirt, add a few layers of the white net, gather it then sew the lot on to a white ribbon so they can be tied around the waist.

Someone else has suggested the no-sew method which is cutting the netting into strips then tying them onto an elastic waistband but we won't be able to add an underskirt.

The no sew way seems to me like it will take longer but I don't know if I'm missing something - cutting strips, tying each one on, and no underskirt and with all the stage lighting I'm not sure they'd be seen if you see what I mean so they just need a bit of extra body from something underneath

The way I had planned to do it, whizz the hems on the sewing machine, sewing machine gathering stitch, then sewing machine it all to a length of white ribbon.

I need to pick one and stick with it as they all need to look the same and I can't decide which way to go

You shouldn't bother with an underskirt. Two layers of the net is fine. With leggings underneath...don't do the strip thing. It actually uses up more material.

Your plan is good but ditch the underskirt.

They're not wearing leggings underneath, just a white leotard

Thing is, I've just put 3 layers of the net together and I can't really see it, it's cheap and cheerful net and the holes are quite big in it. I thought the underskirt would just give it a bit of oomph if you see what I mean

I've got tonnes of the white fabric. I bought yards of white sheeting years ago, I can't even remember what I bought it for now, it's been festering in the loft ever since.

Id do it with wide (1") elastic - then sew a single "hem" in the tulle/netting layers you are going to use and thread the elastic in it - or sew hem wide enough to incorporate elastic.
