Dressmakers please help!

I have just seen a beautiful fabric on Frumble which I must must must make myself a skirt from. However my skirt making talents are thus far limited to making a child's twirly skirt from a very idiot proof tutorial online. Can anyone point me in the direction of a simple adults skirt pattern? Thanks!

Lots of different skirts, you draft the patterns yourself but it guides you through all the steps both for making the pattern and the skirt. If you want a simple style it probably is in here

I am so not a dressmaker but have made several panel skirts by copying existing skirts.
I made a 6 panel skirt that has been mistaken for Boden (ha!) like this:
I measured my waist and added 2 inches to allow for seams.
Decided on length and width at bottom hem by using existing skirts and again added seam allowance.
Divided measurements by 6.
Drew out a template on a length of old wallpaper and used this to mark out panels on material in chalk.
Cut out and machine stitched panels together to make one long piece.
Hemmed top and bottom.
Stitched final two panels together including a zip. No button, just zip.
I am not a sewer but this takes about 3 hours, less once you have your panel template sorted, and I have complements whenever I wear these skirts.

Oh that book looks great Raven, thank you. There are so many beautiful fabrics out there which would make lovely and I only have boy children to sew for. I did make myself a satin slim dress style prom dress about 20 years ago but it was bloody hard work and I needed my friend's mum to help me get it finished. Simple cotton skirts are the way forward I think
