How difficult is it going to be to attach a cotton or polcyotton peplum to a tee-shirt?

Dd2 wants to be Sleeping Beauty for World Book Day.

I've come up with - pink long sleeved tee-shirt with the neckline/collar tacked on & the points of the skirt attached as a peplum on the tee-shirt then a pink skirt with elasticated waistband so she can take it on/off herself if she wears it again rather than following a proper pattern.

I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts as to how easy/hard the tee-shirt peplum would be?

It probably depends a lot on how stretchy the T-shirt material is and whether it is going to be hand sewn or machine sewn.I think it might be easier to make it separately like a belt or attach it straight to the skirt and tuck the t shirt in.

I was going to make it on the machine then attach it by hand. I could attach it to the skirt - just thought a t shirt and skirt with elasticated waist would be easier for dd to manage.

It will probably be fine. Especially if you tack it in place first. Depends lots on the stretch, Sometimes really stretchy material can be quite tricky to sew without it pulling out of shape.

Even if you skip making the top itself yourself you could just use the bit where they attach the peplum for some guidance? I've seen it made up in princess versions too. Hope that helps!

Thank you both. CR I haven't got a working printer atm. I like the look of that dress though so have bookmarked for future use

I've been thinking about it this afternoon.

I could make up the skirt with an elasticated waist & make the peplum as a separate belt type thing (but that runs the risk of being taken off & lost).

I could attach it as the waistband of the skirt but not sure how well that would work because of the shape of it.

Or I could stick to my original plan of separate t-shirt with peplum tacked on and elasticated skirt.

I've got some calico lurking in my box of tricks so think I'll make one up in that and see which way works best through trial and error probably more error

Just pin the shape to the top of the skirt before you elasticate it & tuck the teeshirt in
