If I have an voile curtain, can I add a panel of fabric to it?

I have an old voile curtain panel with thin pleats running its length. I want to incorporate a panel of patterned fabric onto it to make it more fun for a nursery. Does anyone have any advice or have any (simple) patterns that they could direct me to? I'm not against cutting it up or just stitching over the top of it.
Thanks :-)

Voile won't support the weight of your fabric unfortunately. The best way you could make use of it is to add/hang your solid fabric vertically, so it attaches to the pole at the top and doesn't hang off the voile. I think your biggest problem will be copying the pleats - is the voile stiffened at the top where the pleats are? If so you will probably need to use buckram to stiffen your fabric too then look up 'pinch pleats' online for instructions about how to see pleats. Not sure if voile can be stiffened though so that might be irrelevant! Typically a curtain would have either a stiffened heading with pinch pleats or pencil pleat tape sewn into the top. You can copy either of those fairly easily, not sure how voile would be pleated though I'm afraid!

Argh! That doesn't sound like the simple project that I was looking for. Maybe I'd be better off just starting from scratch with my choice of fabric. The voile just happens to be the "right" colour for the room, so I was imagining using it as an edge for a patterned fabric, but I could just use it as it comes in another room! Maybe that'll be easier.
Thank you for your response anyway :-)
