I'm an ok sewer (I much prefer to knit) and I'm planning to make curtains for the kids rooms for our new house. I want them to be proper blackout curtains as we've got a sort of cobbled together window covering in our flat and its a real pain to take down if you want to let in some actual light during the day.
I'm trying to pick from the following (1 per room - not to put together)
nature trail:

letterbox:

roar:

I've got samples of all three. The letterbox is the thinnest (I guess because it's pollycotton) the other two are thicker. I'm thinking of using blackout lining and interlining to both insulate the windows and keep out the light. Should I avoid the letterbox print since its the thinnest? I want the curtains to look reasonably nice but I'm not after a super professional look as this will be my first go at making curtains. I also can't decide if I want to do the same for both rooms or different. DDs are 3yo and 16 months.
