...what would you suggest she spent it on?

I bought my dd a big card making kit from staples for about £10-5. It had loads of different bits that could be used for little art projects. Then we went to the works(?) and bought some of the little packets of fluffy coloured balls etc. to add to it.

I wouldn't suggest anything - I'd let her choose what she wanted for herself.

And then cope with the resultant mess later

Really good pencils - Caran d'Ache or Stabilo
Unfortunately a stonking set of those would take care of much of that money...
but cheap pencils are a false economy
and the same goes for cheap felt-tips (found out the hard way here) - if she wants felt-tips buy Berol, whose products last for AGES. MIL gave us some she used when a teacher, and she has been retired ten years...I was all for binning them, as they would be bound to have dried up - and they hadn't. Very good quality!

I'd go onto baker ross (or look at the website) and see what takes her fancy. lots of great stuff there, including xmas projects etc

Something small and then I'd spend the rest on myself.

My ds1 got into fimo aged 6.

southeastastra · 21/09/2006 14:36

how about a tshirt with some fabric pens and she can design her own?

Tut soupy! And you think I don't have a good good with "my children's fancy pencils" then?
