Making a quilt cover?

DD wanted some fabulous african fabric as a quilt cover but it isn't wide enough

I have a double flat sheet which I thought to use as the bottom & round the edge giving an 8-12 inch border of plain fabric round the pattern.

At one end I thought to make a hospital corner & only sew the horizontal/vertical seams leaving the diagonal as a hand hold for changing the quilt cover

But what do I do at the other end?

Should I only have the border on 3 side leaving the pattern going to the bottom of the bed (I thought that might look odd)?

Cut the sheet creating a border & then think about the fastening?

Somehow make the bottom of the patterned fabric the opening?

Help?

What about buying a plain duvet cover and then sewing a panel on, you could put some quilting under to add a bit of depth and interest.

Three-quarters in now

It looks great but as I say the corners are tricky!

I've had to hand sew the corners - I hate hand sewing!!
