Team Hooker, now with added pictures :)

Whilst on holiday recently, I finished a hat and started a blanket. The blanket will have at least 200 4" squares in the end so I have a little way to go!

Lots more gorgeous stuff!
I do like those wrist warmers, Ingles. I need to make some more for this winter, once i have the current blanket done and posted.

Those wrist warmers are lovely Ingles. I love the alpaca - I think it's one of my favourites. It's really soft and snuggly Owl - I don't find it all all scratchy, but it does feel 'woolly' iykwim! I'm using the leftovers to knit (sshh) a Fairisle infinity scarf and it feels lush. Not sure what it would be like on sensitive skin though. Would you like me to send you a sample?

Ingles2 · 10/10/2014 21:29

Thankyou.. :) Alpaca is good for sensitive skin Owl, as it's anti allergenic.. that's why it's used a lot for baby garments in Europe.. it is fluffy though, so if the fluff factor annoys?
Right back to the rockets.. will post a pic soon

FunkyBoldRibena · 10/10/2014 22:24

Alpaca anti-allergenic?

I have never heard that - I can't go anywhere near wool so that would be totally fantastic if it is true. I have a friend who has alpacas I'll have to ask her about it.

Ingles2 · 11/10/2014 18:37

It's true :D it's because Alpaca fibre doesn't contain Lanolin I think... I'll have to look into it more. Could you please ask your friend Ribena and report back..?

OwlCapone · 11/10/2014 19:42

I'm not allergic, I just find it prickly. I always test wool against my cheek to check.

Finally I've locked the children away kept the kids occupied long enough to photograph these......(the last one is a very attic 24 blanket pile up ...could not resist).

Yes, lovely blankets indeed :)

Givemecaffeine21 · 22/10/2014 18:35

Thank you very much Smile

I did these before my littlies arrived, I've managed a couple of little blankets for new babies in the family since, but there is never enough time in the day!

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 22/10/2014 18:45

Beautiful blankets

FunkyBoldRibena · 24/10/2014 19:00

Hurrah - I finished both Binary Scarves today.

Now to make a start on a blanket for ME!

Love the binary scarf idea! :) Are they significant numbers for the recipients?

Givemecaffeine21 · 25/10/2014 17:27

Wow - love the scarves! Very unusual!

FunkyBoldRibena · 25/10/2014 19:06

Are they significant numbers for the recipients?

Yes, it's their names put first into numbers [A=1, B=2 etc] and then the full number changed into binary.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 26/10/2014 00:44

Fantastic! Grin

KinkyDorito · 28/10/2014 13:55

marking place Smile

KinkyDorito · 28/10/2014 21:11

I learned to crochet a couple of years ago with help from here and I love it so I am very grateful. I still can't follow a pattern but I make a mean granny square Grin. I am currently winding balls of wool into the bag I made last year. I will put a pic up. I am still pleased with it even though it is very floppy. It makes a good home for my crochet bits. It was a bit different from the blankets I usually churn out. Note a certain Attic 24 influence...

Lovely bag :)

My immediat thought was "attic 24 bag!" It's been on my To Do list forever but I've never got round to it. I've made plenty of other bags though.

Love the binary scarves too.

KinkyDorito · 29/10/2014 09:16

howl Thanks Her's are the only patterns I seem to be able to follow. haven't had much time for crochet of late, so I need to try and make some as I need to get out of my comfort zone.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 29/10/2014 09:35

It is a lovely bag. I want to make a bag now! Am just making flowers and trying to think what they can 'be' for them to sell at a charity fair next month.

I think I'm going to pencil one in to make before my next holiday. I need a new beach bag.

As it's 2 years until I next go, that should be plenty of time!!

newlark · 29/10/2014 17:31

Haven't attempted crochet in years but randomly found this thread earlier and was inspired - have just made myself a poppy from a pattern on ravelry ( and have made a contribution to the Royal British Legion in lieu of buying a paper poppy). Am rather pleased with it as I am very much a beginner.
