Team Hooker, now with added pictures :)

Whilst on holiday recently, I finished a hat and started a blanket. The blanket will have at least 200 4" squares in the end so I have a little way to go!

They are lovely Polter, I like the colours you used. I find it really hard to choose colours. I'm not sure I like the ones I chose for my blanket, but I'll carry on.

Primrose123 · 14/09/2014 23:17

Here are some baby blankets that I've made recently.

Have just re looked at your as-we-go blanket primrose it is gorgeous I love e those colours! What colours/yarn have you used?

I have decided that my first blanket will be a granny one, as it is easier and quicker. I will progress to the ripple next time I think unless I get convinced to just go ahead and ripple Wink

Primrose123 · 15/09/2014 13:49

Thanks Folk. I used cream, parchment, raspberry, meadow, pale rose and cloud blue. I also bought turquoise and aster, but I didn't use them in the blanket because I didn't like the colours when they were put together.

Primrose123 · 15/09/2014 13:49

Sorry, forgot to say, lovely hat Folk!

i have made snowflakes as decorations, i used a sugar solution ie hot water anhd sugar to stiffen them, i soaked them in the solution then pinned them out (on the ironing board on top of a thick towel) to dry. i used white cotton. this year i am going to try with glitter in the solution and see how that works.

Umlauf · 21/09/2014 20:55

Wow - all these blankets are fantastic. Gives me hope that one day I will manage a big project!

Here are my recent completions. A snowflake garland with pearls and sequins, a star garland with little bells, and a floral wreath which will be a Christmas present for my Mum.

So many lovely things :)

I have so many projects in my head and not enough time to do them all!

My first attempt at both Tunisian crochet and intarsia. Obviously had a bit of a wibble with the tension around the middle but I'm pretty pleased with it.

I had intended to use the design for some cross stitch but then last week I discovered "graphghans" and Tunisian crochet and thought it would be perfect to test it out.

Hi comeplete novice here. Where do you get your patterns or do you make it up?

I am looking for something online really.

Love all the stuff so far and cannot wait to produce something!

Thanks

OwlCapone · 25/09/2014 12:27

Have not discovered Ravelry yet...? the pattern database is the black hole of crochet, you can get sucked in never to return :)

I like Pinterest. Need to look at ravelry but have such a long to make list already!

MissFenella · 27/09/2014 12:15

found a great you tube teacher via Pin interest - she does at just the right speed.

One I watched took 10 mins and hadn't even made a stich - I was screaming at the screen 'make the fucking stich'.

This new one is much better and I am away with a slouch hat with starfish pattern. :D

*bit obsessed

OwlCapone · 01/10/2014 10:59

I started this thread with a very small number of spotty blanket squares.

Now I have this.

However, I have realised I need to make about 40 more as I have stupidly ended up with a total number of squares that does not make a balanced shaped blanket. [sob]

I can't decide whether to make 2 extra of each colour or introduce 4 more. I also can't decide whether to go with a random placement or the graduated one shown in the picture.

I'm not joining them, I think I'm going to leave them all in box as a decorative object :) I want to find a virtually invisible join - I tried it out on a test piece that went as a babette panel to Woolly Hugs but I can't remember what I did. I'm not a fan of the join as you go methods.

I like the graduated effect too. Unfortunately I also like the random look as well. Graduated is easier than random I guess! Decisions decisions....

Very nice, Champtastic I have one of those birdies too only mine is in shades of brown and very drab!

That's glorious Owl, I think it looks fabulous with the coloured graduated like that.

I don't know if it will be of use but I found some good ways of joining squares I wasn't aware of on this list.

I'm happy today as I've finally found a pattern for a truly solid granny square (the Rock Solid Granny Square) that can be made to an appropriate size so I can finally start my Portal throw.

OwlCapone · 02/10/2014 06:23

Thank you ;)

I'll have a look at the list of joining methods later.

If you look very closely at my spotty squares, you'll see they are solid with no holes at the corners :) I wanted a solid look and worked it out for myself. Although halfway through, I realised a small tweak that would make them better but it was far too late to go back and change!

I don't usually post here but I had to share this with someone - so proud of myself but have to keep it under wraps until my friend's hen night on Friday

Just finished this blanket for a friend's daughter's birthday present. It was very fiddly as I wasn't really working to a pattern. The way I joined it meant I had to have exactly the same number of stitches on each square. I learned a lot making it!
