Just that really, I have a scatter back sofa that needs a refresh, is there a type of fabric that's more suited for the job? Smile

Linen, velvet?

Cotton twill is hard wearing.

You can buy a home decorating weight cotton which is ideal and hardwearing for cushions, but in reality, almost any fabric will do.

Choose the fabric for how it will look on your sofa. And if you have small grubby children, washability might be important. Personally I like working with a heavyish linen or cotton best. I love the feel of cutting and sewing it. Also think about the pattern. If you are doing plain squares or rectangles then stripes and checks can be fairly easily married up but on more rounded shapes can be a devil to fit together without looking shambolic. A plain or floral would be more forgiving on an unusual shaped cushion. A contrast piping can help to slightly disguise where patterns don't exactly join too.
