Looking for a sewing machine. Do you have any of these models?

I am looking to upgrade my sewing machine (currently have an extremely basic Brother). I can't afford to spend more than £300 but I do want a machine that I am not going to grow out of. The ones I am looking at are. ...
Janome SMD 3000, Brother Innov Is 20 and the Elna 540. If you have experience of any of these machines would you recommend them? I also saw a Frister & Rossman for a similar budget which seemed to have loass of stitches but I have never heard of them before. Do you know if they are any good? I don't want to pay for features I don't need at the expense of a reliable machine.

I upgraded from a 20 year old basic brother to a janome txl607 at Christmas and I absolutely love it. I would imagine the smd3000 would be as good, just with a few less features. It gets very good reviews. It's worth paying the extra £30 for the quilting kit.

I have the SMD3000. It is fairly new and I love it!

Totally overcome my fear of speedy sewing.

I also have the SMD3000 and I love it.

The speed restricter massively helps slow you right down when you need it, so you can put your foot heavily on the foot pedal and it still only sews very slowly. In fact you can tap the foot pedal and it will do just one stitch.

I love the needle down feature, the locking stitch feature and I did buy the quilting kit too. It is so easy I have had children use it to sew paper and material.

Sewingmachines.co.uk who sell the SMD3000 supply you with loads of thread and scissors which I found really handy to just start sewing immediately with scrap material.

I haven't ever had a Frister & Rossman but they are a very good make and have been going for years.

Thanks very much. I went for the SMD 3000 and I love it. It is so quiet compared to my old machine. Got the quilting kit too (although I have never done any quilting. .. I may one day).
