I have one almost identical. I started it when I was 11 and have just dug it out. Am now 50.

It is very large and has millions of colours in it. So the question is: what colour to do the borders. Dh has suggested white but I have completely ignored him as he is clueless. I am veering towards pink or turquoise spotty stuff, but it might look too twee....

I'm making one like that but with smaller hexagons. Like you i've thought about pink or turquoise for binding but think maybe a fairly neutral colour might be better. I think I have plenty of time to decide though might die of old age before it's finished at the rate I'm going

But mine has very few neutral colours in it. It was started in the 70's when people made a lot of their own clothes. I can still remember where most of the patches came from. Sometimes it makes me cry!
