Making a volcano

Can anyone help us with making a volcano for school?
I haven't got a clue where to start.
It doesnt need to smoke, just the main part and not be too big or complicated.

Open up a cereal box to twist into a cone (sellotape) around a circluar shallow pot (I'd cut down a pringles tube or similar). Use bits of paper with paint & glue mix to cover and also glue to a cardboard base. Make it fairly black. Fill the inside of the pot bit with red, maybe bubble wrap inside to make it a highly volatile volcano, run rivers of red paint down the sides.

Bonus points for finding a couple of tiny pieces of obsidian to glue on as it's volcanic glass

Easier to find than obsidian - a piece of pumice!
