Ok crafters who sell how do you work out your prices?

I have the feeling sometimes that people don't realise how much just materials cost let alone the times it takes. Am wondering if I should include a breakdown so people can see if my pricing means I am allowing just over £1 for an hour of my time.
Some people seem to think that hand made makes it cheaper.

Most folk are. You obviously don't have to follow that but it gives an idea of good practice.

it is hard though becuase you are essentially competing with the tat you can buy on the High Street. While handcrafted goods are more beautiful, more original, well made and of better quality - try telling that to someone who wants it cheap.

I don't really sell my items - but use them as gifts. I feel that i save myself loads of money that way. But if I accounted for the time it takes, I would be well out of pocket.

You should make sure you cover your material costs, plus a percentage and try not to factor in the time. Just make sure it is during your spare time and you enjoy it.

I was wondering if you would sell this to me, it's not so I can make & sell them it's to let a friend try make it for my little 1.
