Can anyone recommend a good book of sewing projects (or other crafty projects)?

Its for dd, she's 11 but pretty handy with a needle / sewing machine & tbh better at making craft stuff than me. For example she would have no problem following a straightforward dress pattern.

I was wondering about this book which I know some friends have and like, but then slightly put off by the reviews, and also I had kind of been thinking more of a sewing type book. Does anyone have anything fun? Its for Christmas, wanted to make up a 'bundle' of book, some materials etc, basically some nice stuff to do over the holidays after xmas day :) .

What about getting a subscription to RubyLoves magazine?

A magazine is a really good idea, unfortunately looking at the cover example o[f RubyLoves on the net I think it might get immediately rejected on the grounds of pink-frilliness without ever getting past the cover. (DD is a girl of decided opinions - aka extremely bloodyminded Grin ) She likes sewing/crafting but NOT if it could in any way be conceived as girliness IYKWIM -

Just Sew Stories is great! I've made a few things from it so far and it's good for beginners and more craftily advanced people. Nice pictures and instructions and well written.

That looks like a really good book, Antoinette :) I think dd would love animal cushions!
