8ply yarn, uk stockists? Failing that, what is uk equivalent?

Looking for a uk stockist of 8ply acrylic in funky colours.
Failing that, what would a uk equivalent be?
Not keen on doubling up with 4 ply or DK or whatever!

Double knitting will usually be the equiv of 8ply - is it an Australian pattern?

According to Ravelry 8ply is standard double knitting yarn. I recommend Stylecraft special DK - loads of lovely colours and inexpensive from sites like Deramores.
