Art table?

Hi we are moving house soon and my son is going to have his own play room. I would like him to have a table in there for his art bits. Has any one got any recommendations for what to look for please?

For DS1&2 I bought a cheapy table from a 2nd hand shop (wooden and solid, just ugly) sawed the legs down to make it shorter and wrapped the top with 'map' oilcloth from John Lewis and staple gunned on, and painted the legs different colours (picked out of the map cloth) with tester pots. Cost about £20 and looks pretty good and is easy to clean up. Sorry if that came across a bit 'Kirsty's homemade crap' but it honestly isn't naff!! Smile

Ikea

There are loads on the GLTC website, but the Ikea ones are cheap and do the job too.

We have one which has a top that you can completely lift off - it is a smooth table top on one side, and it is a table top with a lip all round on the other side, so nothing falls off. It has been great for playdough and art and craft, as all of the stuff stays on it! The only thing is that it is quite small.

My advice would be to buy the biggest one that you can, as it will be more useful to you as your DS grows, and for other children to sit at too. Go as tall as you can too, as this will last you longer.

thanks I will check out Ikea and GLTC. Second hand sounds good as well if I can find something suitable
