there is a quilting shop in east molesey called creative quilting

I have no idea about these things but when my mum has come from abroad in the past, she spends hours in there (she is an avid quilter) so I think it must be quite good!

Which side of London are you on? There's one in Kew and one in Hampton Court. There's also one on the Central Line in Essex. I'll see if I can find links for you.

There used to be a lovely one in Dorking (surrey) when I lived down there, but that's going back 10 years or so and I can't remember what it's called!

Miaou · 12/06/2006 12:50

oooh just googled it - it's called The Quilt Room and it's still there Smile

I can rather sadly vouch for the fact that there is nothing like this in SE London :(
John Lewis and Liberty both have fabric departments that will have a good range of suitable cottons by the metre - and you can combine visits to them with sightseeing.

\link{http://www.stitchintimeuk.com/stitchintime.nsf/index.html\Kew}, I haven't been to this one
The Hampton Court one is foxinsocks link (I only remember getting the train to the Hampton Court stop, but it's actually East Molesey)
\link{http://www.mapletextiles.com/\Penge}, I haven't been here either
\link{http://www.sunflowerfabrics.com/\Sunflower} Fabrics in Bedford, I've ordered online from them
\link{http://www.justbetweenfriends.cwc.net/\Essex}, my friend has been to this one and found the range of fabrics quite traditional and flowery

Liberty is also a great place for fabrics, and I know a few fab online and postal places if your MIL is interested.
