I can crochet. I am, however, useless at knitting.
My last attempt only arose because DD went with me to the Hobbycraft show at the NEC last November, bought a hank of that wool that ruffles when knitted (when my back was turned) and then asked me to knit it into a scarf. Lucky for me, it came with a basic leaflet on how to knit the scarf.
I managed a scarf, extremely slowly, but I couldn't even cast off without asking for help
. Casting on was nothing more than threading needle through and setting off. DD very nearly got a selection of rude words. Next time she can knit her own.
Can anyone put me out of my misery please and point me in the direction of a good beginner's guide? I feel crap compared to my MIL (but then, she can't crochet so I guess we're even
).
Thanks very much.
