If making pasta necklaces with a toddler:

  • what pasta? Macaroni? Penne? Other?
  • what to string them together with? Wool?
  • what to use at end of the wool instead of a needle?

Thank you!

Paint first if needed, penne/rigatoni and string cos it's stiffer than wool so no needle necessary.

Just remembered, you can tie a small bead to the end of the string and then it will drop through the pasta.

If you want the string to be stiff, dip in paint then leave to dry.

We used wire bag ties to make "needles" twisting them around the wool. It's also a good idea to Sellotape the spare end of the wool to the table.

Oh brilliant thanks. Can't wait to do it now.

Round shoelaces work well as thread too - the aglets on the end work a treat to slide through.

If it's for a toddler to wear, I like to use wool - one that snaps easily if it gets caught on anything....

Shoelaces - of course. Poundland?

Sounds pretty fun, can't wait to have a try on that too. Grin
