Apologies, I know sewing machines have been covered a number of times recently.
I have a vintage electric Singer in the garage but I am too much of a novice to face hauling it out and then buggering things up with it. I have to sew a door curtain, so basically straight seams only, and a cushion cover - likewise. Were it not for sewing on the curtain tape I'd be tempted to do it by hand even if it took forever.
Not sure if I will really make a massive amount of use out of a machine but it's likely to take me weeks to make this bloody curtain and I don't want to borrow one from a friend with the additional pressure that would entail.
So, those are my requirements:
- must be able to do at least one stitch (more would not be a bonus!)
- robust enough to handle doing a full-length curtain
- preferably not go too fast!
- reasonable price.
I'm not wanting to lash out loads on a machine as you can imagine, but any pointers would be gratefully received.
