Stamping up, demo's, parties, advice, opinions please.

I have crafted for as long as I can remember and been paper crafting for about 10 years now. I am now at a point in my life (and work situation) to consider trying to take my crafting a step further- with a disabled DD, trying to juggle work with childcare is a nightmare but I need some form of income, however small!

One thing that came to mind was becoming a Stamping Up demonstrator. Has anyone got and personal experience or advice please.

Could I ask what a disabled DD is? Is it some online business? Guess it is I would have some advice.

Obviously I don't need to worry about being made redundant, supporting my 13 year old son through Grammar School, fighting my local council to get SN transport to my DISABLED DAUGHTER's new school in September or even paying off the £2000 loan we have just had to take out to keep my husbands car on the road.

OBVIOUSLY I must start having sleepless nights over my use of the English language and my grammar. After all it was so many moons ago that I gained my English O'level.

I thought I was posting a genuine question asking for crafter's opinions and experience of something. I was asking for help not ridicule.

Who is ridiculing you?

If you read Mercedes other posts it is very clear that English isn't her first language and she misunderstands or fails to grasp some things. I doubt vey much she intended any offence whatsoever.

Certainly no one is criticising your English!

I happened to have searched Mercedes posts shortly before seeing this and her English (whilst FAR better than any of my language skills) isn't 100%. IMO her post was a complete language fail.

Thank you Soupy, I am feeling pretty low and useless and took it all to heart! My confidence is as good as non existent and the thought of starting a potential business venture is rather scary!

I know (partly) how you feel. I haven't seen my confidence for nearly 8 years.

Hi, my mum is looking into doing this too. She used to do Creative Memories but I think that no longer exists in this country. She really only did the Creative Memories as a hobby though - she didn't want to impose on people or try to persuade them to part with their money. She definitely didn't make much money, but she enjoyed the discount! I think she said that Stamping Up doesn't have a minimum order per month, so not much of a risk there. She also likes the stuff enough that she'd benefit from the starter pack just for her own use (and the discount again!). So I don't know how much money is to be made from it, though that might depend on your sales technique and how many parties/demos you can/want to arrange. Good luck!

Thank you for all the advice. It's been a hectic weekend all in all but I have decided to go for this. All I need now is to decide what products to get for my initial start up kit!

I think it will something that will get off to a very slow start but hopefully I can build up and do classes/demos etc.
I did have a quick look online and I think the nearest demonstrator is about 5 miles away, but out of the 10 demo-ers shown nearest my postcode there is not many around my part of Kent at all!

Yes Fast, I have a blog and personal FB page so there is some room for "marketing" there! I can understand some of the issues your friend had/has and they are very valid concerns, especially as I don't really know of any local crafters, I will literally be starting from scratch.

I think I'd like to get more out of this socially than what I expect to gain financially but unless I take the plunge and try, I will never know! LOL

I've got so much going on at the moment, I can't really even think straight, let alone get creative.
