Suitable arts and craft toys for kids

Can anyone recommend me any suitable arts and crafts for kids under 5? I want something that will help them be creative rather than sitting them in front of the tele.

Paint, finger painting tree? Easter decorations?

painting & playdough (make your own). Sticking.

There are lots of little sets in the £ shops or Tesco for making puppets, Pom Pom animals etc. DLTK and enchanted learning are 2 great websites for craft ideas, there are hundreds, all sorted into different themes

Playdough sounds interesting how on earth would you go about making your own playdough?

There's a company called Little Letters who post a weekly craft to pre-schoolers for about £2.50. They design it and send all the 'ingredients' you need to make the craft. Its posted to the child so they feel all smug because they get their own letter in the post :o)
