Which type of ribbon might you use for a pendant?

I have a lovely pendant but would like to change the cord for a ribbon.

What type should I look for? Sometimes ribbon I see in the shop seems very slippery and as if it wouldn't tie together.

Try grosgrain. It isn't shiny or slippery - it is more woven in texture. Something like this
