Tell me things to help it go swimmingly.

What sells well?

What do I need to remember to take?

Tell me I can do this!

lilibet · 07/06/2006 20:49

Where are you Hunker? Where's the stall, people could coem and see you!!

hunkermunker · 07/06/2006 21:30

If anyone wants to email me (hunkermunker at gmail dot com) I'll give you the location of the stall - it's in a shopping centre in West London Smile

OK, today was interesting - lots of really nice people and a handful of people who expect the earth for no money whatsoever.

I sold quite a few (not sure exactly how many - need to go through them tomorrow - not tonight, don't want to look at them again now!), personalised most of the ones I sold (for free - am a soft touch Wink Grin) although not as many as I'd have liked.

However, I didn't have a couple of things people asked for - wedding acceptance/regrets and a get well soon card, so will sort them out for next week. Also I need to make more of the services I offer (personalised handmade cards for all your occasions - I make them and post them to you throughout the year) and I have to get my website up and running.

Handed out quite a few leaflets to people with my details on too, so that's good.

The survival sacks were popular, Jayzmummy! I found organza bags in Tesco for £2.97 for ten - they've upped the price to £3.97 for ten I noticed yesterday, but still a good price, I think. All the ones I could find online were 59p each.

[yawn] Am SOOOO tired!

in a shopping centre! Shock Wow you were brave. Did you make any profit? How much do you tend to sell your cards for? Any top tips?

It sounds like it went well. Did you come home feeling good about it all?

hunkermunker · 07/06/2006 21:42

Not sure about brave, terminally stupid, I think!

I think my cards were probably too pricey - I sold them for £1.95 for an A6 or a square one and £2.95 for an A5 one - will rethink for next week, I think and probably put them at £1.75 and £2.75. Pisses me off a bit though because for the same thing in Paperchase or similar people would pay £4. Gah!

Didn't quite make a profit (only a couple of quid off it though, this week), but have a lot of stock and will take it round local shops. I have come home feeling very positive and not at all scared about doing next week, so that has to be good!

As for tips, tell people you can personalise stuff - and give examples - ask if they have any special anniversaries coming up, etc. Talk about how nice it is to receive a unique card on a special event like a wedding or birth of a baby.

well done you. Hope you are all well, you'll have to mail me some pictures and I might be able to give you some business! Grin

poppiesinaline · 07/06/2006 21:44

next week? Shock Is it a regular stall? Good for you Hunker! Go Girl! Have you posted any of the cards on the gallery? I want to have a peek Wink

hunkermunker · 07/06/2006 21:45

Will do Flossam - my task for this week is to sort out photos of all my cards and have a book on the stall next week Grin

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 07/06/2006 21:47

Am only doing two to start with - today and next week. But it's a friendly place and there are lots of regular visitors, so I'll see how it goes.

(As an aside, is anyone else as surprised as me that Cod's not called me an arty crafty nobbo on this thread? Wink Grin)
