who would like to see my early atempts at crochet?

pics on profile, the blanket is for my friend who is having a baby next week, the square is what I am using all my left over wool on and I decided to try and do something a bit more fancy pants.
So what do you expert crocheters think? (please be gentle they may not have been made with skill but they were made with love)

Btighonite, it is so easy, buy a hook (they cost abou £1.50) a ball of cheap woll and spend the day on you tube, thats what i did. then when you have done that go to the attic for lovely easy patterns and ideas.

It so rewarding crocheting.....I've just made a granny squares blanket and now it's all together it's just lovely, I can't believe I've made something that looks so nice

I'm now trying to do attic24's hexagon blanket but joining the hexagons together is a bit troublesome. It probably doesn't help that I've now had wine

that does look really hard, I had a go at the wavy lines nut what I ended up with is a wollen moustache, dd1 loves it though so no waste.

You can never have enough woollen moustaches

The hexagons are really easy to make, it's just connecting them as you go that's a bit tricky. I've got four together but joining one on 3 sides has beaten me tonight

I've got 2 dses who both want a hexagon blanket so I'll be an expert by the end.

What are you planning to make next?

I'm doing a flower garden square joining as you go, but I find it really hard juggling the wool and the square and the blanket.

I am getting a new neice or nephew in the summer so going to have to make something fairly impressive for that. I bought a load of the rico cotton which means I can plan a bit more as it is actually cheap enough to keep making stuff with.

Flower square blanket sounds lovely. Joining as you go is very tricky, I am finding. I only have 6 hexagons joined so far and already I'm getting the wool caught up in the blanket as I try to get the joins right!

Looks lovely though. Although its a bit bright, sunglasses may be required

Doyouthinktheysaurus, the hexagon joining gets easier - I made a hexagon blanket recently and for the first few joins I really struggled but by the end it was much much easier (which is lucky because the blanket gets heavier and more unwieldy!)

Thanks pantryboy I'm getting the knack of it now. I started off putting the hook in the wrong way round for the join, but I've sussed it now.

It's really nice seeing it come together as you go. I'm sat with a mini blanket of hexagons on my knees at the moment.....much nicer than just having a drawer full of squares for your efforts

and you dont have to dread joining it up, mine is 5 by 5 now its would work as a doll blanket if I get bored. will need to see the finished porduct, I am aiming to have mne done by next winter, where I can curl up under it in front of the new fire that I am saving up for.

Those are gorgeous - I love the multicoloured ones.
