Has anyone tried selling handnits through an ebay shop?

I've been getting a lot of compliments recently for my wool& alpaca hats and neckwarmers so I'm going to try selling some while I'm convalescing from an operation in the next few weeks, and see how it goes. I would be very grateful for any advice whatsoever.

I'm thinking of setting up an ebay shop to sell them.

And if so these are my questions:
Does it work? Ie do they sell through ebay?
Is it too late in the year to sell woolly hats and scarves?
Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?

I'm not convinced Ebay is the right place. I always associate it with grabbing a bargain rather than paying for a handcrafted item.

I think folksy and easy too - and watch your pricing, you don't want to end up paying people to wear your precious items!

Are you using your own patterns? You have to be very careful with copyright on Etsy and Folksy.

Good point Purple, thank you. Although there's only so many versions of a wooly hat you can make... I imagine that like literature most things have already been done.

The lady who runs the Yarn Obsession has just published an ebook on how to prove crochet for sale, I imagine it would apply equally to knitting.

I've bought it, but haven't read it yet, I think you can get the first chapter as a free sample.

My mum sells her cardigans via Facebook, and she is constantly knitting to clear the backlog!!

It takes a little while to grow it but to begin with you can add your own friends and spread by word if mouth!
