I lurk a lot here, but I'm a big knitter and crocheter current completing a massive knitted throw.
I spotted that the writers of simply knitting are launch a new mag tomorrow 'Simply Crochet' I had a browse on the website and it looks really good.

Looks really good, do you know much it is?

Lonecatwithkitten · 09/01/2013 21:40

Don't know, but thought I would slip down newsagents tomorrow. Buy the first there and if it is as good as it looks take up the subscription for the three issues for a fiver offer.

Found the cover picture on facebook, think it says £4.99

I have subscribed, but won't see it for ages, as I'm abroad so will have to wait for my sister to bring it out to me.

I love Mollie Makes & The Simple Things (sister mags) so have taken the plunge & subscribed. Can someone do a quick review once they have their copy?

Seabright · 10/01/2013 10:01

Anyaknowit I think you are thinking of a knitting and crochet partwork which also starting now.

Lonecatwithkitten · 10/01/2013 13:26

What's it like lonecat? I live in the sticks so I'll have to go into our local town to get it, if you recommend it. It looks great on the face of it (I'm a crochet beginner though).

Lonecatwithkitten · 11/01/2013 12:48

Okay collected it from newsagent cover price is £4.99 so top end mag. 2 free plastic hooks 4mm and 6mm. Nice look and feel to mag. 27 patterns there are 3 blankets, some hats, scarf, cowl couple of cardigans plus some things for home. Good range of vintage style and more contemporary.
Teach yourself to crochet section show both left and right handed techniques. Plus crochet essentials showing all stitches with both UK and US terms.

They have reviewed some wools as well.
I like it, it is what I am looking for, but think I will take up subscription offer which is much much cheaper.

Just realised cover says 36 patterns I think maybe where it is varied to make slightly different object I have counted as one.
Several projects I think I am going to make.

Thanks lonecat - I'll pootle into town to see if I can find one.

Seabright · 11/01/2013 23:10

Thanks for the review, am glad I subscribed. Now I just have to finish my current WIP (cushion) and next project (ripple blanket) before my sister comes to visit me in Spain and brings my copies with her. Excited already!

NotADragonOfSoup · 12/01/2013 12:01

I went with the iPad digital version - no free cover gifts but all the links in the mag are clickable which is fantastic.

TeapotofDoom · 16/01/2013 23:00

Inside Crochet is a UK based one, under new ownership and much improved.

Marking place as I really want to learn this year.

Lonecatwithkitten · 16/01/2013 23:35

Mimsy I am a long time knitter, but a recent arrival to crochet. I felt the instructions on getting started were very clear. Prior to this mag I had only ever done Granny squares, since getting the mag I have learnt to make several motifs and currently am working on lots of hearts which I am delighted with how good they look.
