Urgent crochet pattern help please

I'm practising the 'vintage vertical stripe' Bella Dia blanket, which I want to do as a baby blanket while I'm bored in hospital with poorly baby DS. Going out to get soft yarn shortly.

But I have a problem with my pattern! I'm increasing every row. The pattern says 'always double crochet twice into the same space at the end of the row'. But this makes an extra stitch! What am I doing wrong?!

I don't understand. If you want to increase every row, then you want an extra stitch in each row, don't you? Can you link to the pattern, if it's an online freebie? I find the project notes for each pattern on ravelry really helpful. People often clarify bits they found tricky when they were making the pattern.

Had a look at the pattern. I think that you make an extra dc, but then on the return row sort of 'hop over' that extra dc. as you go in the 'v' space. I think the pattern is very clear and would have a go at following it very carefully. Looks like a lovely blanket.
Hope your poorly ds recovers quickly.

Thanks. I think I was stitching into the wrong bit at the beginning of a row. Seem to have got in now. Good job I practised!

Yes, you work all your stitches into the gaps between stitches of the row below. So if you had 5 stitches, you only have 4 gaps. In order to keep the number of stitches the same you have to do an increase in the last stitch on every row.
