I have just noticed how many bags of unfinished projects i have lying in corners neglected. So far i have:

one blue baby blanket (baby is 11 months old now)

one cosy blanket for me (300 sts per row in garter stitch)

one wet felt playmat in pieces

one needle felt dragon with no limbs or wings

one washed fleece hanging to dry

about 10 other fleeces and bits of awaiting spinning

practice crochet square (no idea what it will be)

silk/cotton squares blanket (8sq done 72 to go)

I know i'm beyond help at least for the next 40 yrs til i retire please help me feel better about being so fickle. Tell me what guilty unfinished secrets you have lurking in abandoned project bags/ drawers/cupboards

I've just read the sock knitting thread and am tempted to add them (or at least one) to my list

DS is nearly 4. I bought some material to make curtains for his room shortly after he was born. The material is still lying in my sewing box - I ended up buying some curtains from Sainsburys.

I am making a patchwork quilt for DD (1) but am only halfway through piecing the squares together. It's supposed to be finished for Christmas.

I think it's all a lack of confidence in knowing what I'm doing, having spare cash to buy materials and not having time to sit down and actually do it!

thehamburglar · 25/11/2012 13:50

Socks do sounds good although I am petrified by DPN. I tried to make some wristwarmers, got in a tizzy and gave up.

RueDeWakening · 25/11/2012 13:56

Too many to mention!

1 orders - about 10 that need finishing in the next week or two, then another 6 for after Xmas.

2 mending dh's shirt and dressing gown.

3 putting the foot back on DD's baby doll (been sitting there for about a year...)

4 advent calendar panel needs cutting out and making. Maybe for next year...

5 DS's Thomas quilt - I have the panel and wadding, just need to put them together. And buy some minky to back it with. And bind/back it.

6 Little hugs - I want to do a couple of these, just need to find some time. I have a plan/idea about what I'm doing but haven't started yet.

And that's just for starters!

MidnightKnitter · 25/11/2012 14:01

I don't do sewing (see unfinished playmat) don't know what i'm going to do with the blanket squares wonder web probably won't cut it. Glad i'm not the only one being taunted by works in non-progress.

The worst part is that MIL keeps asking how I'm getting on with various projects. I should learn to keep quiet about it all then I wouldn't feel the shame when I have to admit that none of them are any further forward.

RooneyMara · 25/11/2012 14:05

Oh God.

The kitchen. I built wooden cabinets under the worktop but still have one to build and atm I don't think I everwill, as I'm waiting for the washing machine to die so I build it to fit next to the new one.

Also need to make wall cabinets for kitchen - and I've decided I hate the tiles now. arghhhhhh

Bathroom however is almost finished (need frame for behind bath panel - but it sits there by itself at the moment so no panic)

I also have about 6 unfinished Ehrman kits to do in the cupboard since before ds1 was born Blush He is 9 and a half.

And a huge old dolls house to fix up.
ahem.

MidnightKnitter · 25/11/2012 14:44

oh my god Rooney that's proper diy i'm wincing at the thought of it. Sad on your behalf. I don't envy you having actual deadlines for stuff Rue there's no way i could manage that. Sorry Hamburglar but the MIL pressure makes me smile, I gave my mum wool i had made but would never have gotten round to and she started a bag but never finished it and i always ask how it's coming on.

I started a set of funky cross stitch animals while pg with my first. She is now 11yo and I've done 3 out of the set of 5.

I have a big felt Winnie The Pooh Christmas stocking that was cut out for her first Christmas. Still in pieces.

Maybe for the grandchildren?

Mindingalongtime · 25/11/2012 18:06

A cross stitch family tree; I was going to do and present it to my parents for their Ruby (40th) wedding anniversary, they have just celebrated their 56th!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 25/11/2012 18:12

So many unfinished projects so little time...

Current things that I really have to get a move on with:

Fabric advent calendar
Socks for my Dad's birthday just after Christmas

And then other things lurking in the spare room:

Half a baby blanket for a friend who had her baby in the summer
Tapestry cushion cover that's missing a crucial skein of wool
A handbag I made over a year ago that needs lining

And most embarrassingly a jumper for a 3-4 yr old boy that is pretty much knitted apart from the collar (got stuck). Trouble is the 3-4 yr old is now 6 and rapidly heading towards 7...

kellestar · 25/11/2012 18:55

Blankets seem to be appearing on this list quite a bit...

I can add 3 more blankets to that list.... Blush

I have lots of things I started and fell out of love with. Now plan to frog and re-purpose into a pattern I like.

I have this one ball of yarn I've knitted at least 5 different patterns and it just isn't working with any of them.

My frogged list is epic.

PixelAteMyFace · 25/11/2012 20:37

A Snoopy dog that is lacking a tail and stuffing, which I am making for DS1. It is a kit that was given to me by a neighbour who had started it for her own DS but couldn`t be bothered to finish it. I sewed on the head and inserted the eyes.

I too have never got round to finishing it.

Twenty nine years on it is still in my crafts cupboard BlushGrin

Seabright · 25/11/2012 21:40

Should we swap around our unwanted/unfinished projects? Get rid of the guilt & free up space for stuff we like?

I love Ehrman kits, so would be happy to take over there for example.

I have an old-fashioned sampler I started when my sister moved into her first home, many, many years & three houses ago.

Daisybell1 · 25/11/2012 22:19

Oh lordy... Well:

One crocheted coat for dd - needs flower button to finish

Crocheted dragon hat needs sewing together

Crocheted shark hat needs finishing

Jumper for dd needs reworking as it won't go over her head

Knitted gauntlets for sister need starting!

About 10 crocheted hats for friend's children

Crocheted scarf which is in the back of the car lingering

Patchwork quilt needs quilting and edging

Patchwork quilt for dd needs starting!

Oh god, oh god

Mathsdidi · 25/11/2012 22:25
