Making lined curtains

I am making curtains for the first time and a little nervous. Can anyone suggest a website with really simple instructions on how to?

I have the fabric and lining and tape already. And I know I need to do a join.

I don't know a website, but briefly:

Allow 25cm extra length for the curtain material and 20 extra length for the lining.

Do the join first. Iron and pin the two pieces together and stitch them, then iron the seam open. Same for the lining.

Then fold over the sides and tack them down.

Do the hems next. Double hem of 4cm then 10cm for the outer, and 4cm plus 6cm for the lining.

Put the lining and outer together and fold over the top part together. put the tape on top of this fold (you probably need a diagram to see what I mean.) sew along the top and bottom of the tape.

Tack the lining and outer together along the sides.

I used these instructions to make lined curtains, having never made curtains before: www.channel4.com/4homes/how-to/decorating/how-to-make-lined-curtains

They turned out okay apart from the hems, which are really wonky Blush but that's not the fault of the instructions - I couldn't be arsed to do them properly and had lost the will to care by the point of finishing them off as I was heavily pregnant and they were huge and weighed a ton as I used a heavy weight fabric and the window was massive.

I need to make some more curtains for the hall window and I will use these instructions again as they worked fine - but I will buy lighter fabric and the hall window is much smaller than the bedroom window that I made curtains for last time, thank goodness! Grin

Thanks, I made them. Was a little easier then I thought. They are hanging now but need to be take up a bit/

Next stop roman blinds!
