Um... just some sparkly/shimmery blue fabric wiggling across the floor between the other scenery? Fully adaptable to any village layout :o

I'm not entirely too sure which playset this originates from but we have a playmobil waterfall/stream? I'm thinking it was the children's zoo playset but I bet there may be ond on ebay?

If you go into Hobbycraft look at the train/model hobby section, they do liquids, pellets etc that make realistic looking water.

I was going to say blue marbled card covered in PVA glue and left to dry so that it's all shiny and bubbly.

You need a model shop. You can buy special stuff to make water effects.

My dad is a model railway enthusiast! I spent many a childhood weekend going to model railway exhibitions. Fun times Hmm Grin

Thanks all.Looked on a few model sites but it looks scarily high brow.Think dd wants tree,paths-the works.ConfusedRealistic water is crucial.Have found an old mirrror for a pond-and then I run out of inspiration.

The shiny material option would be my way of doing things generally but I'm thinking making some authentic scenery could be a good bonding experience and get my crafty cogs working again.Grin

Doesn't seem to be a middle ground, wonder if there are books on model scenery making, off to Google.

I wonder if you'd be best trying to make it as a fabric play mat if she wants paths etc. You can them make trees and other accessories like a pond from different craft materials.

I think that's what I'd do - make a fabric ground with the stream, grass and paths on it and then other bits as extras. Make sure that there are big enough gaps between the paths and stream to fit the houses that she has.

Good thinking. Was wondering about scrunched up tin foil as a stream(she could bend it as she chose),garden gravel for paths.

This stuff www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat470007a&prodId=prod1600082a should be fairly easy to use.
