Wool(?) fabric for coats

Does anyone know where I can get some nice wool fabric for a coat for dd2. I'm looking for that type of soft wool fabric, that they make children's coats out of. She's got a Next coat in, it machine washes too.
It says on the label it's "84% polyester, 13% viscose, 3% elastine" so maybe not strictly wool, but it looks and feels like it.

It needs to be not too horrendous price per yard too. Last stuff I looked at was £40 a yard, but that was specialist stuff.

Would fleece work? (100% polyester)?

Unfortunately not. The fabric's much stiffer and it's more wind proof.

I think I need to try charming my local fabric place, and see if they can order stuff in for me.

HERE

Excuse the awful website, but the shops are great - I love my local one

PS - it will be fused too to make it even stiffer, its normal with outerwear

Sorry, its not letting me link directly to the page Confused - you need to scroll down & click on "Suitings, Coating etc" ( or similar) on left about 2/3rds down) you'll find a selection of coat weight fabrics there - sun glasses advised before looking though Grin

PPS Grin - if its the thick "fleecy" coating you want, its called "Mouflon"

Thank you rockinhippy.

I used this site once ages ago. How could I have forgotten.

Dh won't think you though Grin

Grin

my DH hates the place too - we have a shop - & I have a huge stash of fabric that I keep spotting in there & buying as i just NEED it - & then not getting my act together :)

Dh won't even let me take over the dining room and designate it my sewing room. Sad The dc even kindly told him they didn't mind eating their meals on their knees in the lounge.

I have exactly the same problem in huge amounts of fabric and never exactly what I want so I buy some more...
