Bloody hell. I've just spent £24.50 on a skein of wool. Shake me somebody. It is very very nice tho

Shock

You can get 17 balls of Stylecraft acrylic for that.

[uncouth]

Can you bear to make anything with it?

Stitchthis · 02/10/2012 18:52

Yes, I'm making a shawl. A very complicated shawl that will take years and years.

SoupDragon · 02/10/2012 18:55

Are you sure 1 skein is enough...?

Maybe you should get another just in case. Wink

Stitchthis · 02/10/2012 19:34

I'd have to sell my children.

There's a thought....

you got me curious... what does this fabulous skein looks like? Maybe I need to do a shawl too Wink

Stitchthis · 02/10/2012 22:03

Have it hidden at the mo.

Stitchthis · 02/10/2012 22:05

this is the other one I bought... Oh dear

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 02/10/2012 22:15

Dare I ask how big the skein is...?

ouryve · 02/10/2012 22:18

Wollmeise? :o

ouryve · 02/10/2012 22:20

Oh, the linen lace looks gorgeous? Not sure my poor arthritic fingers would enjoy it, though.

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 02/10/2012 22:25

Yes is the other Wollmeise?

560m of lace - wow. That would take me a year to knit up Grin

Ravelry is doing bad bad things to my budget. I am getting some Dream in Color Starry sock soon, and some Buffy sock yarn, and I don't even knit socks yet.

Plus I have a queue of stuff to do 'soon' - a wrap in Luisa Harding Millais (yarn bought already) a cable jumper for DH (started but hibernating) and a Puerperium on the needles now.

ouryve · 02/10/2012 22:28

I have stash that at my current rate would keep me going for about 15 years (have had to give up sock knitting until I get some varifocals and learn how to use them!) and my queue with matched yarn and patterns alone would take me about 4 years.

Yep. Guilty as charged. Rohtspatz & wollmeise in turkise markise a vibrant beautiful peacock blue. here's a picture. I made a pilgrimage to islington to Loop.

I want my ashes scattered there. Is that weird?

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 03/10/2012 09:46

Not weird at all! Anyone tried Three Irish Girls? I really fancy that too.

I am doing puerperium in smootie and hate the yarn. Hate it. So easy to split and slippy. Was a bargain though.

Stitchthis · 03/10/2012 21:45

I got a tender off the linen actually...they'd reduced it and then changed theirs minds but not the sign...result!!! Saving money really. Positively thrifty.

A tenner. Blardy autocorrect

holmessweetholmes · 03/10/2012 21:53

Yup, me too. I have too many projects on the go already, but just bought a load of lovely chocolate brown Rialto Aran to make a gorgeous leaf-patterned scarf with a fringe of knitted leaves on the ends. Couldn't resist. I'm such a slow knitter though - I take ages to finish anything! I love knitting with Rialto Aran though - it's so soft and springy.

Stitchthis · 03/10/2012 22:28

It is gorgeous isn't it
