Thanks SoupDragon:)
Are you working on anything at the moment? I'm just starting a newborn cardigan, hat and booties set.

SoupDragon · 23/10/2012 16:07

Am I working on anything at the moment?? LOLOLOL...

Squares for the Hug for 5Boys
Rainbow ripple
Muted ripple
Japanese flower scarf for Christmas
Scarf for DS2
Bear brooches for the Yorkhill craft fair project
I have to hook together the Team Hooker blanket for Refuge

Then there are the projects I have the yarn for but haven't started.
Plus the things on my to do list.

I'm a lost cause. :o

TheInvisiblePoster · 23/10/2012 16:24

I normally have 3 or 4 projects on the go at once so if I get bored with one I can switch to a different one.

TBH I'm a bit bored now because I don't really want to be making the cardi set but someones paying me to make it so I have to do it. Would much rather be making something else though.

I don't like making things to order because it turns my enjoyable hobby into a chore.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 23/10/2012 16:33

Soupy, you'll be getting a parcel in the next few days. Through the letter box so no red cards i hope :o

I'd love to get paid to crochet, looking forward to selling on some of PidjChick's stuff once he out grows it!

SoupDragon · 23/10/2012 16:55

This morning I may have accidentally ordered enough Rico cotton Aran for another blanket project.

My regular postie is pretty good - he tends to leave packets on the porch rather than leave a red cArd anyway.

Mine knows my posting name and why. Local sorting office think the blanket projects are brilliant Blush

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/10/2012 17:29

Soup - I am so glad I am not the only person who accidentally buys yarn! Grin. Dh always looks so disbelieving when I say it was an accident.

aJumpedUpPantryGirl · 23/10/2012 17:32

I had to order some cream Stylecraft and it seemed silly not to add a few extra colours
When I home tonight DH said 'I can see you are anticipating the world yarn shortage by getting in first and ordering it all'

I'm very tempted to try and make this or a version of it.

The only thing is I'm not sure what yarn to use because I'd want it to be drapey and fine rather than woolly.

SoupDragon · 23/10/2012 17:59

It wasn't my fault... Deramores sent me an email saying "We miss you!
Come back! here's a 15% off voucher!"

What was I meant to do?

AnitaManeater · 23/10/2012 17:59

jumpedup I reckon I would have a bash at that wrap using 4ply with a high wool content. Tis lovely.

I've been making Woolly inspired Spiders, sold a couple on ebay and have even sold a couple patterns through Ravelry Grin. I am totally fed up with them now but still have about 10 orders to fufill and all I want to work on is my big granny circles blanket.

aJumpedUpPantryGirl · 23/10/2012 18:02

AnitaManeater, do you recommend a brand?
I've noticed that on the website it's made with Rico Essentials Cotton, I might try and pop into the wool shop and see if they stock it so I can have a squidge.

But I'm very open to suggestions of a yearn anyone thinks will work

Soupy - you had no choice!

SoupDragon · 23/10/2012 18:05

I would think it needs to be a smooth yarn... Like a bamboo maybe? the Sirdar snugly baby bamboo is a DK and drapes nicely. I've used it for the Japanese flower scarf I'm making. Comes in lots of colours too.

OP posts:
aJumpedUpPantryGirl · 23/10/2012 19:33

Oooh, now I have some Sirday Snuggly Bamboo upstairs, I might make a test hexagon using it this weekend.

I'm not quite sure why I am even planning a new project as I have at least 4 other WIPs Smile

SoupDragon · 23/10/2012 22:17

I ironed the first part of the scarf I was making and it transformed it from scrunched up to nice and drapey. If it weren't for the fact that I don't like the colours, I'd keep it!

Afternoon everyone Brew

I just thought I'd mention that I had to knit recently, after several months of hooking exclusively. It really is a far inferior craft or I'm far more inferior at it

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 24/10/2012 16:25

Oh dear, a new craft shop just opened near me so I went for a look around. Would have been wrong to leave empty handed... [hblush]

SoupDragon · 24/10/2012 17:17

Wolfey I've not tried it so can't help - sorry. I"m sure someone knowledgable will be along later.

Dances Knitting makes me shudder

MummyDuck You did a good thing. You should always support new businesses :o

MummyDuck - t'would indeed have been rude and a sign of bad breeding :)

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 24/10/2012 20:54

Well, that was exactly my thinking Grin

They had beautiful colours by stylecraft. Iv never used their yarn before so I got a lilac and bright orange!!! Making some crochet Christmas hats so the orange with be a snowmans carrot nose Grin

Tobermory · 25/10/2012 09:36

Hello hookers,

I've been madly hooking away on my first project, a blanket using Attic24's instructions.
I am ridiculously proud of my 60 squares but....

Spent a couple of evenings sewing them together, I need some motivation and thought I would get that by seeing them blanket-like. I used A24 instructions again. But it's not sitting very flat. The squares seem baggier, almost as if they were bigger than the seams, IYSWIM. Am uploading a pic to my profile in case my instructions are rubbish unclear.

Have I done it too tight?
Will I need to unfasten? [hsad]
Would ironing help?

SoupDragon · 25/10/2012 10:47

It may be that it just needs blocking - what is it made from? You'll need to be careful so check the paper band to see what the care instructions are.

My "join as you go" blanket looks dodgy/baggy but I think blocking it may help. In fact, I may look at it now given i have some laundry to sort.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 25/10/2012 10:47

The blanket looks lovely BTW :)

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 25/10/2012 10:48

If you kind of stretch the squares along the seams, do they flatten out easily? Mine do which is why I think blocking will sort it.
