I stumbled across it more or less by accident when making a sphere. It's great isn't it? And so easy!

Owlcapone I have to say I crocheted another ball today using that tutorial & it turned out 10x better. Cheers again!

There is... But I can't remember where I read the method. It involves decreasing using the front loop only. I think for SC it is as simple as that actually.

Hello all.

I've been knitting for a while now but recently (when I started mat leave) decided to give crochet a go. I'm now annoyed that I wasted so much time knitting!

Anyway, I'm trying to crochet some 3 dimensional balls & had good success following a YouTube tutorial. However, I feel like the side with the increases looks so much better than the side with the decreases. I've just been SC2TOG - is there another way to make it look nicer?

Just for info I'm hoping to crochet some very small balls to use in jewellery.

Thanks in advance.

Hello! I was all excited to find this thread, having recently started crocheting again. My mum taught me when I was young, but I've never done much but have got the bug recently after buying a couple of magazines, lured by the pretty pictures on the front. So I'm sad to see it's quite quiet on here these days, where have all the hookers gone?

Sorry reindees and storynanny - I only just noticed your posts.

I am enjoying Tunisian crochet. As I said, I find it quicker than knitting, and I like the fact that as every other row comes off the needle you get a good idea of how the finished piece is going to look. Because of this, I have found it quite easy to make up a pattern for a pair of mittens as I have gone along.

I do find that compared to knitting it is easier to make mistakes by missing stitches, and unlike standard crochet, there is a more defined structure to the stitches, so it is more noticeable when you do. It does look good.

The blanket I am doing at the moment is a sampler of squares, and serves as an introduction to the various stitches, so there are not many stitches to hold on the needle. I understand it is also possible to get needles without a knob on the end but with a soft plastic tube - so if you are doing a big blanket you would push the stitches off the needle onto the tube, which would then rest on your lap, so you are not carrying the weight of the whole blanket on the needle.

Ive just been looking at some pictures of it online and want to give it a go. Is the width of say a blanket, limited though because of having to hold all the stitches on the hook?

I've always been interested in Tunisian - how are you finding it?

Hello

I know this is a bit of an old thread but I thought I would give it a bump rather than start a new one.

I have been getting into knitting and crochet the last couple of years, and have just started with Tunisian crochet. I am really liking it and for me it seems to be the best of both worlds between crochet and knitting. I like the variety of stitches you can produce, but it is a bit more adaptable than knitting, and I find it quicker.

Does anyone else prefer this method?

I've ordered a 10mm too. I'm expecting it to be hard work but I'm in no hurry. It's for DD's room and she won't be sleeping there for another 20 weeks when she's 6mo.

I found the 15mm hook really hard to use - it made my hands/wrists ache.

Oh no. I've discovered crochet thread. Just ordered a 2.5mm hook, a 10mm and a 15mm. And some crochet thread. Oh dear.

thank you! TheOne I'm charging £10 for a garland of 3 butterflies with a flower at the end of it - so 3 garlands = 1 attic24 stylecraft pack :o I feel like a bit of a fraud, as I only started crochet 2 months ago, and my wee sister has been a professional knitter for years and years - however, if a few folk are happy to pay me to make pretty things for them, then I guess it's a win-win situation! plus which it stops our house getting overrun with craft supplies!

Out of interest (sorry if you've already said) but how much are you charging?

I forgot to say, bloody well done on your butterflies. The only person whose ever offered to pay for one of my creations is MIL and I don't think that counts.
