Ooh, lovely neck of the woods Grin

I have my fingers firmly plugged in my ears to block the description of lovely wool shops in the area. My bank balance can't cope with the trips to Herrings in Dorchester as it is!

Well I'm glad to report I have finished the baby blanket!

Didnt take too long, about 2 weeks but it is just a small one. Mangaged to get it finished yesterday, as my dad was getting an operation (as a NHS patient but in a private hospital) and the lovely staff let me stay in his room till he came back from theatre, then he slept for a couple of hours, so I had about 3.5 hours of almost uninterrupted crocheting Smile

When I go back to work I'll see if someone can take a photo of it and email it to me so I can try and put it on here

I've now started another blanket for my own DD, but I think I've ballsed up big time Sad

I bought 800g of chunky wool and decided to just try and do it one piece, but I dont think I'm going to have anywhere near enough wool for a decent size, mind you I dont know if making smaller squares would be any different Grin

Never mind! If I need to buy more then I'll just have too!

The colours are

Sirdar click chunky in Bloom and Heather

and Hatfiled bonus chunky in Raspberry (cant find it online) but they look nice together Smile

Good tip, thanks PurplePidjin, I think i'll have to try that as I can't see any other way of doing it.

I fancy crocheting a hot water bottle cover too Vintage, and a tea cosy Grin

Can i sneak in and say hello. I am really new to crochet have only just managed to do actual square corners and have no idea what stitch i'm doing Confused but my mum does loads of blankets and it seems much quicker than knitting ignores unfinished projects in the corner
I have ordered a set of www.purplelindacrafts.co.uk/symfonie-wood-crochet-hook-set-double-ended-3888-p.as for her birthday will they be ok?

I can't get the link to load - are they striped? If so it's the same as one I have and I do like it.

Don't know what happened to the link and my internet is all slow tonight so i gave up for a bit but yes they're stripy v.pretty but i'm worried they won't be functional and i'm such a novice i don't have a clue.

ThisIsNotWhatIWasAfter They look great, I'm sure your mum will love them Smile

I am having a yarn disaster. After running out on the LittleHugs blanket I have now also run out again on my scrap granny square blanket . I should have bought 2 balls on Monday or 3 balls on Saturday . Now pondering whether to drive the 10 miles to the yarn shop for the 3rd time this week Blush (current plan is to combine it with Knit & Natter so I don't look quite so daft!)

I'm going to venture in here - I am not a skilled crocheteer by any means, but am getting a bit more of a hang of it recently, and am rather hooked now. I've got three balls of the stylecraft wool, and have learned how to make a hexagonal crochet block (the only pattern I can follow, apart from the basic granny square), and I was thinking of doing a mini hug blanket made out of these hexagons - not a rectangular blanket (as I have no idea whatsoever how to make half-hexagons to fill in the gaps round the edge) but an irregular one - if that sounds OK?

Shock I have just ordered rather a lot of yarn. Now have to keep my fingers crossed that my mum was being genuine with her offer of £20 towards yarn for my Xmas present and that dh doesn't mind having a huge bag of yarn sat in the wardrobe until Xmas day Grin

Am gonna jump in if no one minds :)

Haven't crocheted in about 23 years and since I was 7 then I doubt I was any good anyway. Have come over all crochet mad in the past few days for some reason so am waiting rather impatiently for my new hooks and some practice yarn to arrive.

I intend on spending some of weekend safely ensconced in front of youtube until I get it.

I am hoping that'll work lol

SDT - Attic24 has a hexagon blanket on her blog. Even if you don't follow her pattern, I'm sure she'll have instructions for the edges/half hexagons.

Off on holiday today. Abandoned idea of crocheting on plane as was taking the flower scarf and it's much too small and fiddly! I have two toys to make whilst I'm there though, and probably my ripple scarf for the journey down so I'm not completely deprived!

PurplePidjin · 04/10/2012 07:40

Mostly, that's exactly where i was last year, except i was 6 and took it back up at 29! Your hands will remember the movements even when your brain is going "Seriously, WTAF" :o

Nickel, have they shut up yet or are you still stuck there listening to them yapping?

Yay SDTG, welcome to the dark side at last!

Crafty, tell him you're making scarves to save you some money on Christmas presents, then buy cheap ones in Primark and remove the labels :o

Enjoy your holiday, Daisy!

Brew

MrsY's blanket is constructed, I'm now onto the 2nd stage of joining. 7' of dc per row, 7 rows to go... Then a 48' picot edge...

Ahhh - that's great, Daisybell - thanks. I shall look that up straight away. I made another hexagon last night - I am hoping that eventually I won't have to be glued to the book for the instructions for each round.
