Hello hookers Xmas Grin

Please can I ask where you buy your yarn online? I don't have time to pop to town to get any and they don't have a great selection anyway... But I don't know who is reliable online, if you see what I mean?

Thanks

Ooh, thanks for the tip Woolfy, am definitely hitting the "too many WIP, not enough days until Christmas" panic...

I don't think I'm ever going to get round to making the Christmas things I want to.

DuffyMoon · 07/12/2012 19:26

Could I ask for advice please :). I enjoy crochet but the thing that stops me is, due to my ahem age (44 FFS) my hands hurt after a short while so I give up. I have bought a clover hook recommended for arthritis (44 FFS) which doesn't really help. I am self taught so am maybe holding things incorrectly...any suggestions or tips welcome

Relax your shoulders and find a way to hold just your hook in your dominant hand, then work it so your yarn is tensioned over your other forefinger with other fingers on that hand supporting your work.

One of the yarn shops I follow on FB is advertising a kit for a stripy, crocheted dachshund. I would love to have a go at it, but don't want to pay £14.50 for it - I have plenty of yarn to do it with. So does anyone have a pattern for a crocheted dachshund?

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/12/2012 13:25

SDTG there is this one on Ravelry. The spelling would get the pedants in a froth, though! I'm sure I have one in an old "Bazaar Makes" style book that I could hunt out if this isn't suitable.

Switches back very quickly to crocheted ripple scarf.

Promises not to finish ds's socks for Christmas.

Ok, MN has a LOT to answer for!

I have now decided I need to learn to crochet......

I have mastered DC in rows and DD's dolly has my sample as a blanket.

Now I need to try granny squares I think....

I also want to make a hat. DH is rolling his eyes as I keep buying wool.

Today i managed crochet while breast feeding Xmas Grin

DeckTheHallsWithBoughsOfJolly · 13/12/2012 20:57

Once again I'm looking for advice. Have been doing a 'filled in granny square' blanket with no real idea of how big I want it to end up. I'm thinking it looks rather good now but was wondering if it's too small to be of any use. It's about 18-19 inches square. I think it looks like a useful wee baby blanket. So can I stop now or should I go until it's a good 3 feet square?

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 13/12/2012 21:09

Useful as a pram blanket, Jolly, but it depends what you want to use it for as to how big you make it Xmas Grin

DeckTheHallsWithBoughsOfJolly · 13/12/2012 21:23

I don't want to use it, I just wanted to make it!

Decided to call it quits on that one now. It looks good actually, but it's not quite square - it wont lie flat. I think my stitches may be too wide in relation to their height? When I fold the blanket in half twice it makes a diamond rather than a square.
