Sorry sorry, not neglecting to add people, but been to see Jesus tonight! I am enlightened! Will get to it tomorrow!

And count me in for the monthly meet ups. I make as many as I can.

I'm glad Jesus was in when you went to see Him - it is so annoying when you visit a deity, only to find that they have nipped out to the corner shop, and you miss them.

Hi everyone..

very very very late to the thread.. can l join??

Been knitting since l was knee high (but still not brilliant) and would love to learn to crochet.
I couldn't make all the meet ups due to work but l could try for some Smile

prettybird · 01/10/2012 23:30

You'd be very welcome Smile

We've not yet sorted a date for the next one. I'm going to need to learn to crochet soon as I'm knitting squares for a mini Woolly Hug - but I need to find a left hander to teach me Hmm

Pistey has posted some links to left-handed videos for me so I really have no excuse Wink

HairyPotter · 02/10/2012 08:18

Would Monday the 29th October suit anyone for the next meet up for cake knitting and crochet Wine

VintageEbonyGuitar · 02/10/2012 08:37

No problem with the 29th atm, will get round to the fb group just been distracted by finishing my first granny blanket which the cat luffs

Pretty, I've found some left handed crochet instructions so I'll practise and see if I can help thanks for showing me icelandic wool as it's made a fabulous blanket Grin

lizmarshmallow · 02/10/2012 09:48

I'm free the 29th if I can bring along my crabbit baby again! Smile

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/10/2012 13:12

Monday the 29th would be fine for me too - I shall look forward to it. And your baby beautiful and not crabbit at all liz.

If it's Monday the 29th, we won't be able to go to the Tramway. Does anyone have any suggestions for a venue other than the Burrell, where they wouldn't mind us staying for a nice long time?

I'm probably going to be working on a wolly mini hug - I've got my yarn, and I've taught myself how to crochet a six-sided block, and I am going to make them in lavender, cream and raspberry, and sew them together - it won't be square, but hopefully it will be pretty!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/10/2012 12:10

Ds2 heard me discussing this with dh, and suggested the Winter Gardens - but I don't know how easy or hard it is to get there on public transport, and it could be a bit chilly there too - but they do have plenty of space, so we wouldn't be inconveniencing them by taking over a corner for most of the day!

Frivolous suggestion alert - you could always come out to Lochwinnoch, where my regular monday knitting group meets, and join us all - we are a very friendly, chatty bunch, and get waited on hand and foot. You would all be very welcome indeed - though I realise that it isn't a practical option.

prettybird · 03/10/2012 12:33

Had a MN at the Winter Gardens one summer - no idea what it's like in winter. There's a place on Nithsdale Road (the closed off bit, so no problem with parking - plus it is very close to Maxwell Park train station) which looks like it might be suitable, but I've never been there. I'll need to give it a recce.

I/when we can sort out a non Monday meet-up and go back to the Tramway, I found this statement on their web-site:

^"Over the winter months our Facebook friends will be able to receive special offers. Keep checking our status updates for vouchers you can download and exchange for a half price coffee and a cake.

NB: this offer will only be available between the hours of 3 & 5pm."^

I'm sure we would be able to stay on until 3..... Grin and I've already made sure to "Like" them on fb Wink

prettybird · 04/10/2012 13:14

Had a coffee in the place I was thinking of (The Bungo. Space-wise it is totally suitable - easily wheelchair and buggy accessible, plenty of space for a coven gaggle of us - in fact there is a nice large U-space with padded benches round the outside and 4 or 5 tables which would be ideal.

Didn't look too busy over lunch, so they shouldn't mind us hogging the place staying a while.

They serve a massive selection of teas and coffees and the food looked good.

Only major Wink problem is that they don't serve cake Shock. They do do chocolate brownies (with ice cream) and a frangipane cake as desserts at £5.75 each.

GlaikitFizzog · 04/10/2012 13:22

No cake Shock maybe if we warn them we are coming the can knock up a sponge or something! Although the cocktail list looks right up my street! We could get the train!

Is it near the tramway? My Glasgow knowledge has vastly improved by these meet ups!

It's just along from the Tramway. It's very close to Pollokshields West Railway station. It's also be close to Queens Park Railway station, come to think of it.

It's the dead-end bit of Nithsdale Road, where it meets Pollokshaws Road (ie a wee bit further out of town from where the Tramway is).

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/10/2012 14:52

I think we owe it to ourselves to check out the cocktails brownies and coffee, prettybird. Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/10/2012 14:52

Knitting under the affluence of inchohol. Grin

prettybird · 04/10/2012 15:26

We could of course partake of the extensive range of teas that they offer instead aye right Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 04/10/2012 15:38

Tea shmee gimme the Wine!

OP posts:
VintageEbonyGuitar · 04/10/2012 18:02

Ahh I don't drink but tea sounds fabulous. Can't make it anyway so will just send you all Wine wishes.

HairyPotter · 04/10/2012 20:29

I'm happy to go anywhere Grin Should we start a another thread with the new date? Might scoop up some more woolly huggers.

HairyPotter · 04/10/2012 20:31

That's a shame Vintage how will I manage without you Sad

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/10/2012 20:39

That's a shame, Vintage - I hope you can make it to another one.
