I've had a bright idea to make placemats for xmas presents...but I've fallen at the first hurdle :o

I think I've seen some in Dunelm Mill (not sure how padded it is though)

Pop into a flooring shop - they'll have rolls and rolls of the stuff in a zillion different colours

I bought some on ebay, I needed it to patch a vinyl cushion on a boat. It was cheap (about £9) and I got loads. I don't recommend hand stitching it, if you can avoid it (I live on a boat, so no room for a sewing machine) as it kills your fingers, even using a thimble
