My elderly gran has always been a keen knitter but has been having more and more trouble reading patterns and as she's now in her mid 80's, she's also finding knitting a bit more hard-going. She has spoken to my mum and me and would be interested in knitting squares for charities and has a monumental stash of yarn that probably needs donating too!
Does anyone know of any UK charities currently accepting squares? :)

Battersea Dogs home have an ongoing appeal here

I bet Shelter or other homeless charities appreciate them in the wintertime too!

Refuge is running one of its blanket campaigns again this year - with a difference, it includes bears!

Last year's e-book from Refuge had some fabulous designs in it, well worth it on its own without the money also going to a great charity.

ooh, this is a good idea. Does anybody know what size the squares are supposed to be?

ooh, thanks for the replies! I'm not sure Gran will be up to sewing together blankets so I may end up sewing a lot of squares together...!
