I'm starting a project on 14hpi antique mono needlepoint canvas using Appletons crewel yarn (not the thick wool). Most websites seem to suggest using 2 strands, but that just looks a bit thin? I'm using tent stitch - 2 would probably be fine for cross stitch. My friend says her project is looking fine on 2, but she's on hols and not back until I go away- I want to take mine with me! 3 looks better from the 10 stitches I've done, but I am not the sort of person to do test bits and unpick, I just don't have the patience!
Advice from more experienced needleworkers please! I've only ever worked from kits where you are told what to do!
