1 or 2 ball wonders?

Hi,
My local yarn shop is closing down , but that means they're having an amazing sale

So I bought a pot luck bag of yarn which is basically 1 or 2 balls/skeins of lots of differnt types. But now i'm wondering what to make and thought if anyone can help it's the crafters on mumsnet!

So what can I do with 1 or 2 balls of yarn? I can knit quite well and have been trying (and mostly failing) to teach myself crochet.

Any inspiration would be much appreciated!

A lovely rainbow scarf?

Are you on Ravelry? They have groups on there to make one skein crochet and knitting (and this one which are fab. Personally, I'd go for knitting rather than crochet but only because the one skein crochet patterns are always bloody scarves and pot holders.

I like the sound of the rainbow scarf CamperWidow, I have 12 balls all in the same tones so would make a lovely pattern if I mixed them up properly.

Will likely spend all evening planning!
