How do you get involved with craft fairs and things?

How do you find out about these things, in time enough to get involved? And how does it usually work, do you have to apply and be 'picked' or can anyone join?

I've sold a couple of paintings, just a few, mainly to friends-of-friends - one or two through facebook and a couple from people asking friends and family about the paintings that they have. So I was thinking I might have a go at a little table at an arts and crafts fair - I think it'd be a good experience, and would serve as a clue as to whether I could put a bit more effort into making a bit of cash or if I should just stick to what I'm doing now.

I've googled but all I can find is one craft fair locally, which is at the end of August, and there's an email address but I sent the message a few weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet (I know it's too late to join that fair, I just asked for info about any future fairs and the process).

Look at a website called stallfinders; a lot of fairs advertise there. Look for ones in your area, ring the organiser, book a table, job done. Good luck.

Whereabouts are you?

Yo could try contacting your local town hall as often the organisers will hire the rooms there, they will have contact details.

Also check facebook as lots of people are now setting up local groups for things like shabby chic for sale and wanted etc.

Try www.ukcraftfairs.com/
or www.oakleighfairs.co.uk/

Thanks both! I've emailed the town hall but no response - I imagine they're pretty busy though so I'll give it a while.

Will check those websites now, thank you.

I've arranged to take part in one in September so hopefully it will go well!
