"gold print" onto calico

I'm toying with the idea of making some bunting from calico - I'd like to have a gold image on both sides of each piece of bunting, let's say a gold heart for example. What's the best paint/dye to use and what should I use for the image? an ink stamp is all I can think off. Any ideas?

does any of the above make sense to any except me??!!

how about a stencil then spray paint the heart (or whatever the image is?) with gold spray paint. just cover all the bits of calico you don't want gold.

could do spray but that sounds like a lot of work! any other suggestions?

I'd probably use stencil too, but Dylon do a nice gold paint which might be simpler, just needs ironing to fix.

I've been playing with cookie cutters and my DS's play blocks using fabric paint and been pleased with the results. If you have a heart shaped block you cld do that. Or cut one from a trusty spud.

Yes, fabric paint by Dylon, about £1.60 I think, from craft stores, stationers, Woolworths-type shops.
