I'm trying this pattern and I'm tearing my hair out because I keep getting two stitches left on my needle on row two.

I cast on 41, make up the rib section then
Ssk (3) ssk (6) yo k1 x3 (9) yo k2tog (11) s1-k2tog-psso(14) ssk (17)
yo k1 x3 (20) yo k2tog (22) s1-k2tog-psso(25) ssk (28)
Yo k1 x3 (31) k2tog x2 (35)
Leaving 6 stitches or yo k1 x3 (31) yo k2tog (33) s1-k2tog-psso (36) ssk (39) which leaves 2.

Can anyone help with where I'm going wrong? This is the first lacy pattern that I've attempted.

I read the pattern and it is right, 4 sts, 10 st repeat, 7sts
Are your nos in brackets the no of sts?

SlimJimBra · 28/07/2012 22:26

Ssk is slip, slip, knit those two together (2sts) it's a decrease that slants the opposite way to a k2tog and is used to mirror k2tog in lace patterns

Are you making the second size? If so you should be doing:
ssk (2) ssk (4) yo k1 three times (7) yo k2tog (9) s1-k2tog-psso (12) ssk (14) (repeat twice more from to (34)) then yo k1 three times (37) k2tog (39) k2tog (41)

apologies for double posting of the first sentence of that post Blush

Yes, brackets is for the stitch count. I hadn't realised that ssk was slip slip knit together!

Thank you so much for taking the time to set me straight!

No probs, I've been at the tearing my hair out at a pattern stage many a time :)
I find this site a great help - I've linked to the decreases page but there are other videos if you hover over the videos tab at the top.
Good luck!

That's a lovely pattern, MissPiggy! I might enter that in the lace category at the Ravellenics.

SlimJimBra · 29/07/2012 11:54

I think I did my first lace project for the ravelympics last time round!

PessimisticMissPiggy · 29/07/2012 22:03

It is lovely isn't it? If this one is a success I might try and scale it up to make an adult version for myself. I'm a novice at such things, it should be easy to do shouldn't it?

I love this one for adults - I've made 4 of them so far (and am wearing one now :))
