Ds and I spend hours making pictures with HAMA beads. He is only four and will sit for ages labouriously choosing colours to make a flower, a rabbit etc.

I love them too! LAst night while ds was asleep I watched Grosse Point Blank with dh created a mouse using them

Am I the only HAMA bead crazy MNetter?

DS (4) got some for Christmas (trucks and helicopters) and DD (7) got some for her birthday (horses and riders). We love 'em and sit for hours making things. I am told by my friend you can buy books to make Christmas decorations etc too. FAB

I have seen them but haven't bought them as DS is only 2. I may get some for him when he has learnt to do things in an orderly fashion. The last disaster involved sequins everywhere.....and I mean everywhere, he took them upstairs and put them in our bed. "Mummy stick stuck" and there were sequins all over my bedroom carpet and in my bed....Now he is banned from all A&C unless done at childminders Grin I only turned my back for 1 minute

I wish my dd was old enough, they look great, but she's only 2 so I'll have to wait.

roisin · 04/03/2006 19:10

The \link{http://www.beadmerrily.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=35\MAXI beads} say from age 3+, but as long as they don't put things in their mouths, they should be fine for a reasonably dextrous 2 yr-old. Ds2 was doing them when he was just 2, and moved onto the regular-sized HAMA beads fairly quickly - probably around his 3rd birthday, maybe earlier. He still loves them.

Has anyone seen the MINI beads? They are tiny. I would need tweezers to do them!

IlanaK · 04/03/2006 19:33

We are huge Hama bead fans here! Ds (4.5) has been doing midi beads for about 4 months now and makes something most days. He loves them! I have the mini beads but don't get much chance to do them anymore. We get all our stuff from Bead merrily (link given already) and she is fab! I have all the inspiration books and ds loves looking through them and choosing things to make.

tortoise · 04/03/2006 19:40

My DS2 age 8 love them.Hadnt seen maxi ones before.DD1 2.9 was trying to do the normal ones but were to small for her to handle. Will ahve to get her some maxi ones now.

busybusybee · 07/03/2006 20:55
