I want to make mosaics with the dcs. Advice please

I've got some leftover tiles and glass beads and bits that I'd like to let ds 6 and dd 4 use to make mosaics. Am nervous about the mess of using cement or concrete and was wondering if I could just use clay for them to press the bits into. Will that work?

I don't see why not? Are you going to put them in some sort of frame? Sounds like great fun

My children have made mosaics by sticking broken tiles, beads etc onto MDF using lots of PVA glue.
They look really effective, once the piece is covered with bits we sprinkled lots of glitter on.
We have made fish, heart shapes, stars and circles.
They take a while to dry.

My DC had a kit to make a mosaic photo frame (for Grandma) which used double sided sticky tape to fix the tiles.

They've also done coasters the same way, but for those the gaps were filled with grout afterwards, so you could do that yourself once they've done the artistic bit if you wanted?

When I googled I saw a lot doing them with card/paper even cut up store cards!! Anything with colour and pattern.
