Pricing craft work for sale?

I am working up to selling some jewellery I have made but I have no idea how to price it.

Obviously I need to cover the cost of materials but it feels unrealistic to charge an hourly rate for the work involved. I don't want to price myself out of the market.

How do you go about doing it such that you charge a price that others will pay?

How are you getting on Carrots?
Was it easy to set up the Folksy shop?
Have you opened an Etsy shop yet? You have to request to join CraftBritannia once you have opened a shop.
I made my first Etsy sale at the weekend and took 2 orders at the school gates this morning!! Great start to the week :)

Hi crafty! I found the folksy shop really easy and quick to set up. I also thought the link to Pinterest was good. I haven't made a sale yet though. Sad I am very enthusiastic though and probably a bit impatient.

I have just joined a beading group on facebook and I am a bit stunned by what people can actually make. It is a great group but it has knocked my confidence a bit seeing that.

On the other hand, looking on folksy, I have seen things I could make at very high prices.

I am working up to opening an etsy shop as well as it might reach a broader market. When I do I will definitely send a request to join CraftBritannia.

Congratulations on your sale and your playground orders. Smile I keep giving stuff to friends but I think that has to stop now or I can't afford to restock my bead stash.

This is a really helpful thread guys thanks. I'm in the process of setting up on etsy to make bespoke appliqué and/or needle felted cushions like this. I have wibbled about doing it for a while now but am taking the plunge. Off to look up craftbrittania Grin thanks

I can't remember who is who on here (brain of a flea), so pm me if you would like me to take a look at your etsy shops and I'll do so Smile
