My name is StitchThis and I am a bias binding addict.... From childhood I have loved the stuff. Only tonight I refused To give some particularly nice bb to DS1 (we were adding to his ribbon collection by subtracting from mine) as I couldn't bear to part from it. It's ok. You are amongst friends.

I never bothered making my own as it was such a faff - but this? This is easy; I'm so happy

I've just bought some bias from ribbon moon, some really nice colours. Good ric rac and zips too!

LatteLady · 15/06/2012 11:49

Wait until you make Chinese buttons from it :)

KatyMac · 15/06/2012 22:40

Nice..........but not for Ballroom or Latin which is what I spend my life doing

I have to attempt soft boning next

Soft boning is easy Katie - use the sew on ridgelene type, though, cuts down on a lot of hassel

KatyMac · 15/06/2012 23:32

this sort of stuff?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 15/06/2012 23:54

I think that's a different thing or mine is the wrong name

It's for putting on hems to give a bit of curl (for a different dress to the yellow/pink one)

like this

Yes you are right, its different, the stuff I posted is for soft boning a bodice, corset or similar, which is what I automatically presumed it would be for when I saw soft boning

KatyMac · 16/06/2012 13:28

I DON'T THINK THEY SHOULD CALL IT THE SAME IF IT'S FOR DIFFERENT THINGS oops sorry about shouting Blush

Shock

i hadn't though of that!!!

i usually chop a long length and then sew together.

drawing the line on!
genius!

nickelbarapasaurus · 16/06/2012 13:32

i agree - yours is more hem boning, isn't it?

KatyMac · 16/06/2012 13:42

It's all new to be tbh

I am learning and the curve is steep

Well Katymac I have never seen that way of doing bias binding . I generally cut strips on the cross and join them . I am going to try that tomorrow.

KatyMac · 16/06/2012 21:45

It's so exciting isn't it?

Do you know anything about circular flounces/ruffles?

Eek well I have a pattern for a skirt like this one but know very little otherwise.

Each piece is cut like a snail then uncurled and sewn together. follow the link and have a mooch.

KatyMac · 18/06/2012 19:49

Too, too scary

we have been playing over here too
